Community Ambassadors

Social action involves people coming together to improve their own lives and the lives of others by trying to address issues that affect their communities. This can be achieved through activities such as volunteering, fundraising, community action or just simple random acts of kindness. Our Ambassador program supports and inspires young people to get involved in such activities within their community.

Our goal

We want to give young people an opportunity to connect and make a positive contribution to their community, to have a voice, to feel valued and listened to, to increase resilience, confidence, self esteem, and aspiration and to reduce isolation. This is particularly important in rural, less affluent areas, where young people may have less opportunities to engage with their community. This may be due to a lack of resources, family structure, low income, rural isolation, culture challenges or even prejudice.

Achievements

The programme launched in April 2019 and, to date, 40 young people have already completed over 2000 volunteering hours. They have helped to create dementia gardens, performed park clear ups, supported young children with the Summer Reading Challenge, provided creative workshops for younger children, stewarded at local events, run activities at National Play Day and delivered their own fundraising events.

Rewards

As well as supporting the Ambassadors to volunteer their time we reward them with TEMPO Time Credits, fun days out, fun workshops, team building days and conferences.
